In 1953, it became a teachers\u2019 training college (TTC).<\/p><p>Due to pressing need for girls\u2019 schools, Ng&#8217;iya Girls became a\u00a0secondary school in 1962 and admitted its first form one students who sat their Ordinary Level Certificate examinations in 1965. The school enrolled the first\u00a0Advanced High school-level Science classes in 1971. The high school classes were discontinued by the government in 1989, when the education system changed. \u00a0In 2010 the school was identified as Centre for Academic Excellence and got elevated in 2012 to a National School Status in Nyanza Province the current Siaya County.\u00a0 It is the second national girls\u2019 school in Siaya County, in Nyanza region. \u00a0<\/p><p>In its early years, Ng\u2019iya Girls was a top performing school. It produced illustrious ladies who have excelled in all spheres of life.
